ENGLISH LANGUAGE

Yoruba adage said “One’s child cannot be so bad, that the child is thrown to the Tiger to devour”, this contrary to the case of the pregnant Sudanese woman – Mariam Yahia Ibrahim that has been imprisoned to await death sentence after the birth of her baby.  She and her son has been locked behind bars on accusation of marrying a Christian which “Sharia Law” forbids. Under Sharia Law allows a Muslim man to marry anyone outside the Islam but a Muslim woman has no such right.

There is no way that anyone who dragged his/her family to be killed under any religion can claim to be truthful inwardly and at the same time go out to purchase wickedness.  How can anyone kill a fellow human being for the sake of any religion?  Such a person has wickedness inside before accepting the religion, religion is only a cover for their evil act.  Dog is used as a sacrificial animal for the Yoruba god of Iron (known as Ogun).  According to the Yoruba adage “One cannot sacrifice the god’s child for the same god (Ore).”

In the news currently circulating in the media, Mariam Yahia Ibrahim has given birth in prison, yet her brother is urging the she be killed unless she renounce her faith for Islam.  The entire world is pleading with the Sudanese Government to release this woman with her children because this kind of judgement is barbaric and not fit for the modern world.

What a shame, still to be reading about barbarism in the midst of crisis in Africa? We should remember that the Africans with their imported /borrowed faith is like a blind person striving to imagine and name what he or she could not see. Now , how many women have been so hazardously handled in Saudi-Em rate? Even if they do, shall we emulate the foolishness because of our low self esteem? What is the gain when abusing humanity and any type of violence as a result of religion? “This is Esin- cynicism and not Esin-Worship”. In this type of religion, there could be no ‘holiness when the wholeness is fragmented’. Sorry for a continent such as Africa still plagued with Blind Faith.
