Nineteen years after the death of Chief M.K.O. Abiola, the fourteenth Generalissimo of Yorubaland, the Alafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi has nominated Chief Gani Adams as the 15h Generalissimo of Yorubaland.

Chief Gani Adams was the founder of the Odua Youth Movement which was formed on August 25, 1994 at Mushin, Lagos, to fight for the actualisation of June 12, 1993 Presidential election won by Chief M.KO. Abiola in a free and fair election all over Nigeria.  He has not looked back since he came to prominence in 1994 as he continued to fight to uphold the dignity, honour and culture of his people.  His action of defending and promoting Yoruba culture has earned him fifty-two titles but the crown of all the titles is the Aare Ona Kakanfo.

Although there are some oppositions, many prominent Yoruba leaders have endorsed the nomination of Otunba Gani Adams as the fifteen Aare Ona Kakanfo.  Prominent among them are, Ooni of Ife, Governors – Ahmed Bola Tinubu (former Governor of Lagos State), Rauf Aregbesola (Osun State Governor), prominent Musicians etc.

The Yoruba Blog congratulates Chief Gani Adams and pray that he will not die young but live long to continue in the service of defending Yorubaland and promoting her culture all over the world.
