Olóògbé Ọba Sijúwadé Olúbùṣe Keji – Late King Sijuwade, Olubuse II.

Ni ọjọ Kejidinlọ́gbọ̀n, oṣù Keje, ọdún Ẹgbãlemẹ͂dógún, iroyin jade ninú àwọn iwé-iroyin àti ori ayélujára pé Ọba Okunade Sijuwade, Olúbùṣe Keji, pa ipò da ni Ilú Ọba.  Àwọn Olóyè Ilé-Ifẹ̀ sẹ́ ọ̀rọ̀ ikú Ọba yi, nitori ni ayé àtijọ́, àwọn àgbà Oyè ló ni àṣẹ lati tú ọ̀fọ̀ pé Ọba wàjà fún ará ilú, nitori gẹ́gẹ́ bi àṣà Yorùbá Ọba ki kú.  Àwọn àgbà Oyè tú ọ̀fọ̀ ni iwá́jú Gómìnà Rauf Arégbẹ́ṣọlá ti ipinlẹ̀ Ọ̀ṣun, ni Ọjọ́rú, ọjọ́ kejila oṣù kẹjọ ọdún Ẹgbãlemẹ͂dógún. Ni ayé òde òni kò si àṣiri mọ, àṣà yi ti yi padà nitori, ni àtijọ́, Ọba ki kú si àjò, bẹni kò si iwé-iroyin àti ẹ̀rọ ayélujára.

Ilé Ifẹ̀ jẹ́ ilú pàtàki ni ilẹ̀ Yorùbá nitori itàn sọ wi pé ibẹ̀ ni orisun Yorùbá pẹ̀lú Bàbá nla Yorùbá “Oduduwa” ti ó tẹ ibẹ̀ dó.   Okùnadé Alade Sijúwadé, Olúbùṣe Keji, gun ori oyè Ọọni Ifẹ̀ nigbati ó pé aadọta ọdún, ó lo ọdún mẹ͂dógóji ni ipò Ọọni Ifẹ̀.  Ohun ni aadọta Ọba Ilé Ifẹ̀.

Ìsìnkú Ọba Sijúwadé bẹ̀rẹ̀ ni ọjọ́ Ẹti, ọjọ́ kẹrinla, oṣù Kẹjọ, ọdún Ẹgbãlemẹ̃dógún.  Lẹhin ìsìnkú, ìséde ọlọ́jọ́ meje yio bẹ̀rẹ̀ ni Ilé-Ifẹ̀ àti agbègbè rẹ lati agogo mẹrin ìrọ̀lẹ́. Ki Èdùmàrè gba olóògbé Ọba Sijúwadé si afẹ́fẹ́ rere.

ENGLISH TRANSLATION

On twenty-eight of July, Twenty-fifteen, the news of the death of the Ooni of Ife, Okunade Sijuwade, in a London Hospital, spread out on the newspapers and on the internet.  The High Chief of Ife denied this news claiming he was still alive, because of the Yoruba Culture that forbade the casual announcement of the demise of a King, as Kings never die.  The news was eventually confirmed by the High Chiefs through the official announcement to the Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State on Wednesday, August Twelve, Twenty-fifteen.  Nowadays, there is no more secret, the culture is evolving because in the olden days, a King would not have died abroad or outside his domain and there was no newspapers or internet then.

Ile Ife is one of the most important Yoruba City, because according to History, Ife is the cradle of the World and Ancestral Home of the Yoruba Ancestor “Oduduwa” the founding father of Yoruba.  Okunade Alade Sijuwade, ascended the throne as OOni of Ife when he was fifty years old and he reigned for thirty-five years as Ooni of Ife.  He was the fiftieth King of Ife.

The funeral rites of King Sijuwade began on Friday, August Fourteen, Twenty-fifteen.  Immediately after the burial rites, seven day curfew would begin in Ile Ife and its surrounding communities, from four o’clock in the evening.  May the King of Heaven accept the Soul of late King Sijuwade.
