ENGLISH TRANSLATION

Wailing erupted, the whole world was shaken, when the news broke out that those who used religion to cover, had killed twelve people in Paris.  On the seventh of January, 2015, terrorists under the guise of religion, killed Editors of the Comic Magazine – “Charlie Hebdo” while they held Editorial meeting for the next publication for the week.  All the world leaders joined hands with the President of France.

On the other hand, “No Western Education group – Boko Haram” burnt down the entire Baga Community in the Northern part of Nigeria, they also killed two thousand people without the notice of the world.  The difference between the world’s reactions to both incidents was as a result of the French President and people’s coming together to mourn.  Likewise, the entire world cried out to condemn the kidnapping of the over two hundred Chibok girls by Boko Haram, but up till today, none of the girls has been found.   Some parents of the girls have died as a result of this terrible act.

One of the Yoruba adage which means “Only the baggage owner knows when to ask for help”.  The lukewarm action and behaviour of the Nigerian President and Politicians is not an inspiration for the world to continue to sympathise while those affected have not shown enough concern for life.  Since Boko Haram began its spree of killing and kidnapping in the Northern part of Nigeria, the President did not pay a visit to the affected area to sympathise with those whose family were killed or displaced.  The Military were not adequately equipped to face Boko Haram.  In the last one year, preparation for democratic election was more important to the Politicians than seeking solution to combating Boko Haram.  This kind of attitude cannot happen in the developed world because of Politicians’ fear of the masses’ reaction showing that people’s lives are more important than election.
